Right now my daughter is obsessed with the show Miraculous-Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. If you aren’t familiar with the show, it is a French animated adventure series featuring two Parisian teenagers, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, who transform into the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir, to protect the city from supervillains. As her eighth birthday approached, I asked her what theme she wanted and without hesitation she said Miraculous.
To get them into the spirit the girls made their own masks. At Joann’s I picked up red and black masks and I also found some white paper masks. The girls had a blast creating their own Ladybug & Cat Noir Masks and then they used their imagination and to design their own unique mask.
The second activity was to create a Tikki. In the show Tikki is connected to the Ladybug Miraculous, and with her power, its wearer can transform into a ladybug-themed superhero. Prior to the party, I cut out circles of black fleece fabric and shiny red fabric along with black dots of felt. We wanted to be able to hang the Tikki so I also cut out some red polka dot ribbon. At the party I provided a demo for the girls. To make these you use a little Fabric Glue around the outer edge of one of the circles, leaving a little opening. Apply gentle pressure for a few minutes. Next stuff the circles with a little filling and use the Fabric Glue to seal. Again press it gently for a few minutes to seal. Then just add the black dots and you have a little Tikki.
For food we served pizza, a big tray of fruit and fruit punch.
My daughter requested a vanilla cake with lemon buttercream frosting but she also wanted it to be a Miraculous Cake. My husband commented that it was interesting that red frosting tasted like lemon but my daughter loved the cake.
I also had a tray of Miraculous Mask and Eiffel Tower Cookies made by Sweet Sanctions for the girls to enjoy.
For party favors, I filled red gable boxes with a Ladybug Notebook, Hair Ties and an Eiffel Tower ornament. Because our party was a sleepover the favor box also included a polka dot sleep mask.
It was so much fun celebrating Miraculous style. Eight sure is great!
