I am obsessed with succulents right now. I also love to combine party and learn, so I was excited to host a Succulent Social Hour to benefit the French American School of Puget Sound.
For the location we used the outside deck of Bottlehouse located in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle. If you haven’t been to Bottlehouse, you should check it out. They are curators of wine and offer small plates with artisan cheeses and cured meats. For this event I worked with them to put together a menu that would allow the guests to socialize and enjoy small bites and drinks.
For the table, I had arrangements that incorporated the succulent theme.
I also found succulent napkin rings at Cost Plus World Market.
After the refreshments it was time to get to work on a DIY terrarium. I set up the DIY terrarium craft table with all the necessities including rocks, charcoal, soil, moss, pebbles and an assortment of succulents.
I purchased cute glass terrariums at Joann’s but you can find them at Target or any craft store.
I gave everyone a quick demonstration.
I asked Lauren of CreatifDesigns4You to create a how-to cheat sheet that the guests could use and take home with them.
Then the ladies got to work. It was fun watching them pick out which succulents they wanted to use.
They turned out so cute! These are extremely low maintenance and make great gifts.
After we finished our terrariums we sat back and enjoyed a Chantilly Cake decorated with succulents and Succulent Sugar Cookies.
And to close the evening each guest went home with a cactus canvas tote.
And a goodie bag with a few of my favorite cactus things including a little notebook, a Cactus Prickly Pear Fragranced Soap, Illume Cactus Verde Candle and Kiehl’s Cactus Flower Hydrating Mist Spray.
And because we were at Bottlehouse they also received a bottle of Rose to remember the event.
The Succulent Social Hour was such a fun night with girlfriends, I can’t wait to throw another one!
