This year, due to our travel schedule, we decided not to get a Christmas tree. My daughter was so disappointed that I decided to throw a Tree Trimming party for her and a couple of her friends. All you need for this party is a couple store bought Christmas Tree plants, wreath LED lights and little ornaments.
Jennifer Townsend made me these beautiful watercolor Christmas tree invitations. You can find her shop on Etsy. She is wonderful to work with.
To decorate the Tree Trimming station, I used a candy cane stripped table runner.
I filled paper popcorn boxes with little ornaments so that each girl had a variety of ornaments within her reach.
My friend Lauren of CreatifDesigns4You, made a little Holiday Cheer print to which I added a velvet mint ribbon and placed one at each seat.
To warm up after trimming, I had a Hot Chocolate Bar full of all the classic favorites, marshmallows, chocolate chips, candy canes, caramel sauce and whip cream. The girls loved adding their toppings to their warm treats.
Because I just love cupcakes, I made Christmas Tree Cupcakes to go with the hot chocolate. To make these, just use your favorite chocolate cupcake recipe. Frost the cupcakes with white buttercream frosting. Then top with an ice cream cone. Use a Wilton Tip #18 star tip and green buttercream frosting to create the trees. After they are frosted you can decorate the trees however you would like. I kept it simple with some white dot sprinkles and a dash of powdered sugar.
My daughter’s school mascot is the Scottie Dog. I thought it would be fun to send each girl home with a little Scottie Dog ornament favor which I picked up at Cost Plus Market. These fit perfectly in little red and black plaid felt bags from Target’s $1 bin. The girls were so excited to put Scottie on their trees.
Happy Holidays everyone!
