The holidays are right around the corner and following the Emily Post table setting rules can be overwhelming. Below are some quick tips and a downloadable cheat sheet.
Forks: Placed to the left of the plate. The larger one is for dinner and the smaller one is for salad.
Knife: Set to the right of the plate, always place the blade towards the dinner plate.
Napkin: Placed on top of the dinner plate or to the left of the forks.
Dessert Fork or Spoon: Placed horizontally above the dinner plate. If placed beside the plate, the fork goes on the left side, closest to the plate (because it will be the last fork used) and the spoon goes on the right side of the plate, to the right of the dinner knife and to the left of the soup spoon.
And don’t fret, it is the friends and shared memories that your guests will remember.
