By now we have officially settled into 2017. In January, people often make New Year’s resolutions. These resolutions could be to get fit, to slow down, to cherish those in our lives. Those are some of mine so I thought it would be fun to get a group of beautiful ladies together for a Mother/Daughter Yoga Party.
I decided on throwing this event because aside for hanging out with my daughter and a handful of her friends and their moms, there are many benefits to practicing yoga. These include learning how to relax and interact in a nurturing and non-competitive environment. Yoga also increases flexibility, strength and muscle tone and helps all of us develop space orientation, body awareness, balance and a sense of harmony.
To host this event I partnered with ivivva located in the University Village in Seattle. ivivva athletica was founded by lululemon athletica in 2009 and is an athletic sportwear brand for active girls ages six to fourteen. ivivva opened their doors after hours and their Family Yoga Instructor, McKenzie, led us in a 45 minute class.
No experience was necessary. All that was required was being able to inhale and exhale girl power and to have lots of fun.
To start the party each girl received an ivivva tank top.
The room was set up so that each daughter faced her mom. We even worked together on some yoga poses.
My daughter and I were so relaxed and learned some great new yoga poses.
It was also a great bonding experience especially for those of us who are completely new to yoga. Numerous times my daughter told me, “this is so fun!”
After we finished the class we snacked on some light bites including a tray of fresh fruit and a platter of strawberries.
I also provided an assortment of KIND HEALTHY GRAINS® BARS . Kind Bars are the perfect snack. The best part? They are gluten free and non GMO and contain five super grains. Not only that I love their corporate message of kindness. In 2013 they launched KIND Causes and give out $10,000 monthly grant to socially-impactful causes.
And you can’t leave a Flour & Fancies event without some sugar. I had ShopCookieCouture make sugar cookies decorated with yoga poses and lotus flowers.
For party favors I created gift bags with a lotus flower graphic and the word Breathe.
The bags were filled with an ivivva water bottle, headband and lotus bracelet.
Namaste!
