What you need…
- a dish towel
- fabric tape
- ribbon
- scissors
Putting it together…
- Lay your dish towel on a flat surface, right side down.
- On one narrow end, fold the corners down until they meet. Apply fabric tape to secure the corners together. This forms the top part of your apron.
- Hold the apron to your chest, placing the top where you want it to be. Figure out where you would like it to tie around the waist and cut ribbon to appropriate lengths and secure them with fabric tapes to the wrong side of your apron.
- Finally, cut the appropriate length of ribbon for the neck strap. Make sure it is long enough to easily move over the head. Making sure it lies flat, secure it to the wrong side with fabric tape.
- Enjoy your new apron!
This is a simple and basic “recipe” for a DIY apron, but it is one that is open to possibilities. You could use a larger towel, using the same steps above. Trim could be added to the bottom with more fabric tape. A pocket could be added with a coordinating piece of fabric, securing it with more tape.
Have fun with this “recipe” and explore the possibilities!
