Looking for a fun holiday treat? These Christmas Tree Cupcakes are easy to make and your kids will love them.
To make these, just use the recipe below or your favorite chocolate cupcake recipe.
Chocolate Cupcakes
Ingredients:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup canola oil
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup buttermilk
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line muffin pan with brown cupcake liners.
- Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl until thoroughly combined. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, oil, and vanilla together until completely smooth.
- Slowly pour 1/3 wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Then 1/3 of the buttermilk. Gently whisk for a few seconds. Repeat with the remaining wet ingredients and buttermilk. Stir until combined but do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into a pastry bag and pipe into the liners hallway up.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely before frosting.
Frost the cupcakes with white buttercream frosting. Then top with an ice cream cone. Use a Wilton Tip #18 star tip and green buttercream frosting to create the trees. After they are frosted you can decorate the trees however you would like. I kept it simple with some white dot sprinkles and a dash of powdered sugar.
Happy Holidays everyone!
