One of the things I love about summer is berry season. And blackberries are one my favorites. So you might not think of Hot Chocolate as a summer time drink but my family loves to go camping and hot chocolate is a must. Here is a fun recipe that is so good your kids will love it. You can make the Blackberry Sauce ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator. Or in our case pack in the cooler for our upcoming camping trip. We also like to use it on pancakes and crepes.
Ingredients:
Two 6 oz containers of blackberries
6 Tablespoons powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons water
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
3 cups whole milk
4 ¼ ounce dark chocolate
Directions
- Place blackberries, powdered sugar and water in saucepan and cook on moderate heat for about 7 minutes or until blackberries are soft and mushy.
- Strain the cooked blackberries and place in a small canning jar or Tupperware container
- Chop chocolate
- Heat milk and vanilla extract until boiling
- Pour over chocolate and allow to sit for a few minutes
- Top with marshmallows and drizzle with blackberry sauce
The hot chocolate can be cooled and stored in the refrigerator and reheated for 2 days.
Enjoy!
